The other day my friend and I had a RARE day off work, so we headed to Detroit. We had dinner with our beautiful friend/talented make up artist/movie guru, Katie in downtown. We had veggie burgers, tasty fries, and drove around Detroit learning all about the history of the city. We rented a sketchy hotel, slept like babies, woke up, hit the city. We've done this before so we went straight for our favorite coffee shop Bean & Leaf in Royal Oak and went shopping. I have one basic rule whenever I travel: shop locally and independently. This applies to restaurants, clothing, records, and especially to coffee. I don't see the point in shopping at chains that I've been to...
