Oasis in the Mountains :: Lake Tekapo
From the moment that we came over the rise, my breath was completely taken away by the beauty of Lake Tekapo. Annabel had told me that it was a beautiful, snow-fed lake up in the mountains, but I was totally unprepared for the stunning view and gorgeous waters.
Coming from Southeast Texas where all the water is brown and swampy, I couldn’t believe how pure the water was in Lake Tekapo. It wasn’t just a pretty ocean blue either…it was icy cold and the purest, cleanest blue that I had ever seen. I didn’t know that water could be that blue! Sitting at 2,300 ft above sea level, this natural lake is fed by the mountains and is nearly untouched...
