labor day weekend has arrived and with it the slow march into fall. technically speaking autumn commences on the twenty-first of september. but in my mind, labor day officially marks the end of summer. when i was a young girl growing up in omaha the first day of school landed on tuesday the day after the looonng weekend. during those three days, there was a mad dash to the store for last minute supplies as i gathered binders, note cards, and black and blue pens together. plus, any miscellaneous clothing item my mother or i deemed a must-have. but there were other things on my mind as fall commenced and another school year ushered in.
