Several years ago I went to New York for a business trip. It was a red eye flights and I only packed a carry-on so I wore my bulkiest shoes, a pair of chunky wedges, on the flight. When I arrived, rather than doing the sensible thing and opening up my suitcase to change my shoes, I checked my bag at the hotel and went out for the day in the shoes I was wearing.
Now those wedges were cute but they were not made for walking, and to say that wearing them all day around the city was a mistake would be an understatement. I was in agony. By the end of the day I could hardly walk...
