The Last Splash
I thought I'd better get out here one last time before the summer ends and it's another eight long months of chilly weather before I can be here again. My favorite thing to do in this quiet spot is to take a picnic lunch, you know the kind with fruit and cheeses and smoked almonds, maybe a little wine and a few chocolates, and then spread out a blanket and just sort of laze around for the afternoon. The kids come, we bring the dog who suddenly remembers her wild ancestry and disappears into the water and among the rocks for the whole time.
