City At Night

Here’s my outfit for this week’s SIA, inspired by Charles Alston’s “ Harlem at Night “. I knew right away I’d wear these trousers – the yellow plaid on the black background is perfect for the strong lines in the painting – but for the top, I had to think a bit. At first, I was going to wear one of my celestial sweaters to micmic the lights, but then I remembered my “cityscape” sweater. The colors are a bit brighter, but the city scene is too perfect to pass up. I also added my scarf as a nod to the subtle touches of red and blue in the painting. The result is a bit piecemeal, but I’m happy with it!...
