Zhejiang Diary #2: Shanghai’s Financial District

(Yes, I know technically Shanghai doesn’t belong in Zhejiang, but it borders the province, which is why I grouped it into the same area.) After leaving Puyuan, we went to Shanghai and arrived straight in Lujiazui, the city’s financial district. The contrast with the sleepy Puyuan could not be starker. Here, we were confronted with some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, and Shanghai World Financial Center (or, as our tour guide called them, the Sword, the Egg-Beater, and the Bottle Opener ). Honestly, just standing on the ground looking up was enough to trigger my fear of heights. ...
