Coastline peace
As much as I loved the valleys and lakes of NZ's South Island, I still found a soft spot for the coastline. The smell of fresh sea air and the pulsing of waves hitting the shore always takes me to that very relaxed place, where I could leave all my cares behind and feel ultimate peace. I drove the coastal route from Whakatane to Tauranga and I'm so glad that I took the time out to do so. Stopping at several beach side locations along the way, my two favourite spots were Dotteral Point and Mt Maunganui. Mt Maunganui is located just outside of Tauranga, which I think was also my favourite South Island township. A beautiful destination I highly recommend. ...
