Our first day in Florida is always spent food shopping and then going to the citrus orchard to pick fresh oranges, grapefruits, and sometimes lemons. I love it because it allows me to get my fruit picking fix earlier than I would at home. The pick your own season doesn't start until June here, so it's nice to be able to go picking earlier than that. It's actually kind of difficult to pick citrus, except for the lemons since they are lower to the ground. You use these pickers that are on sticks and it's kind of like a metal catchers mitt that you use to wrap around the oranges and yank them off.
