One Morning in Spring
The mornings are still crisp and we bundle up in coats before we go outdoors. It's been so cold that our firewood has run low this winter. We've had to cut more recently which means that it hasn't had long enough to season properly, so it's nearly impossible to get it to burn. By the time we finally get a good fire going, the day has warmed up enough that we don't need one. This is how it was when I was a little girl too, and back then, rather than waste the firewood, we dressed in layers we could shed as the day got warmer--if it got warmer.
