The rules of writing an essay are fairly simple.
First of all, an essay literally means "attempt," from the French verb essayer, or "to attempt." An essay contains an introduction, body, and a conclusion. The intro exists to give a snapshot of what you plan to talk about in the body, and the conclusion sums up everything you've just talked about...and you're not supposed to introduce any new information in the conclusion.
