Happy summer solstice! Are you enjoying the lighter evenings? I love this time of year when I can sit outside as the sun sets, watching the bats circling overhead. The word solstice is derived from the Latin words sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still) because the sun appears to stand still at this time of year. In astrological terms, the summer solstice marks the end of spring and start of summer for the northern hemisphere.
