Fresnay-Sur-Sarthe
Our home town is twinned with Alençon which was about a fifteen minute drive from our base in Fyé. Apparently I've been there multiple times in the past when we used to holiday in France in my teens but I don't remember it at all! The kids were quite excited to see the signs for Basingstoke which reported home to be a mere 348km away. We visited Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, to the south of Fyé, early-ish one morning before it got too hot to move. The market was on so the town was bustling, the centre is very pretty, there is a fabulous church and fantastic views out over the River Sarthe from the Château de Fresnay . Ideally I would have liked to go for a walk...
