This outfit was built around this ginkgo brooch, which I bought in Hangzhou (the whole area is known for its ginkgo and plane trees). A ginkgo leaf is one of my favorite shapes, and this brooch also features a sample of Hangzhou silk, so naturally, I had to buy it. I paired it with this top because the blue background makes it pop, plus the knot button and the embroidery have kind of a Chinese feel to them, so it feels appropriate. (I’m sorry about how wrinkled the top is. I did iron it beforehand, but I’ve given up my fight with these linen blouses.) The mustard trousers are to complement the blue, and the shoes are to echo the top and the embroidery....
