I know that's not really something to admit, but when I was at school, I'd want to be one of the kids with glasses so much that I'd go home and tell my mum that I couldn't see the board properly. She'd take me for an eye test and I'd always be too scared to fib about the answers, so they'd give my eyes a clean bill of health and send me on my way, in a sulk. Fast forward a few years, and I toddle off the optician for a routine check...
