summer in the streets, montreal style
Montreal is famous for its street life in the summer (not so much in the winter, I understand), and we caught a few moments from the Saint-Laurent street festival. First off though, we went for the only decent coffee I had in a month of Sundays in North America, or at least the only decent and cheap coffee, at Café Olímpico in Mile End. It's an Italian old man's bar, and it was such a relief to have a latte that didn't cost $4.50 for once. Then it was time for wandering in the sunshine, enjoying the murals, eating Portuguese custard tarts, and photographing the colourful art exhibits and public-space defining ideas like the public chess boards......
