Hi, friends! The last six weeks have been rather eventful, but life finally seems to be slowing down to a more manageable pace. In my last post, I wrote that I had survived Hurricane Irene, albeit with some minimal damage. There was minor flooding in my apartment -- a basement unit -- but nothing like the damage that many others experienced. However, the water wasn't removed from the basement for 10 days and mold started to grow at an alarming rate. I wasn't confident that the landlords would be able to restore the apartment to a livable condition, so I decided that it would be wiser to move to a new apartment rather than risk the health effects of living in my old...
